Expanded Learning Time and After School

Leadership has provided Expanded Learning Time and After School services to nearly 215,000 NYC public school students. We’ve been doing this work for over a decade. The amount of experience and success we’ve had in partnership with NYC schools shows that we’re not your everyday provider of after school, lunchtime, and Saturday youth development.

Leadership provides a safe space where students can cultivate their creativity and develop personal and social responsibility—all while having a blast. Our flexible approach is sure to meet your school’s needs.

Leadership is a team of over-achievers, and it really shows in our Expanded Learning Time and After School programs. To start with, we have a team of over a hundred Leadership Trainers who come from different, specialized backgrounds. Our Trainer team receives one hundred hours of internal professional development each year (yes, you read that right). Our Trainers are professionals in their art form. We have musicians and dancers, yogis and directors—even magicians—and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. They are dynamic. They are role models. They work with your school to provide services that will hook your students and keep them coming back.

Whichever activity you select, Leadership works to deliver much more above-and-beyond to support your school community. All of our residencies strategically and deliberately incorporate , CCSS, STEM, and a culminating arts or service project. We link to the school day and are inclusive of parent and community members.

  • Social emotional learning (SEL) is a process for learning life skills, including how to deal with oneself, others and relationships, and work in an effective manner. In dealing with oneself, SEL helps in recognizing our emotions and learning how to manage those feelings. In dealing with others, SEL helps with developing sympathy and empathy for others, and maintaining positive relationships. SEL also focuses on dealing with a variety of situations in a constructive and ethical manner.
